The Egyptian Feminist Union holds workshop for Capacity-Building of Civil Associations

  The Egyptian Feminist Union, headed by Dr. Hoda Badran, in cooperation of Alliance for Arab Women, holds a workshop during the period 14-16 December entitled “ Training of Trainers on Advocacy and Lobbying” for the training of 17 civil associations representing 16 governorates including Cairo, Giza, Ismailia, Suez, Al-Gharbia, Al-Mounifia, Al-Sharkia, Bani-Souief and Al-Behira. This is being implemented within the framework of empowering civil associations network, which consists of 240 associations that are members in the Alliance for Arab Women.
The workshop was started off by a speech from Dr. Hoda Badran, the head of the board of directors of the union, affirming the important role of civil society organizations in clarifying and highlighting the concrete problems on the ground, in addition to the importance of cooperation of civil associations with the authorities and concerned bodies to change the policies and laws by highlighting the essential reasons for this change. Within this context, it comes the importance of building the capacity of civil associations in advocacy and lobbying skills, and the need to build leaders and trainers in these associations to train other members in various provinces.
The workshop discusses the definition and concept of advocacy and lobbying, in addition to advocacy goals and how to build effective campaigns. The workshop also addresses the role of the media in campaigns and various methods to deliver the messages.
