Education and health services are the main concern of women in seven governorates
High divorce rate is the most serious gender problem

In the framework of the activities of the "Gender sensitizing the legislative process in Egypt" project carried out by the Egyptian Feminist Union.  During October and November, several activities were held to support the skills of local leaders in communicating and identifying needs. The union held a series of training workshops, in which more than 150 women and girls from the governorates of Alexandria, Cairo, Giza, Menoufia, Port Said, Minya, Assiut participated. 
The discussions held by the union in cooperation with NGOs revealed that there are problems that are of the highest importance to women. The needs assessment sessions indicated that the problems of education, health and poor housing services topped the list of the most pressing needs for women participating in the workshops.
While the most prominent problems specific to women related to the problems of violence and harassment and problems resulting from divorce, and women's stated that there is an increase in divorce rate and thus deepen the problems and effects of it, such as the problem of kids custody. 
It is worth mentioning that the Union has launched a project to support women leaders in September 2017 with the participation of 23 civil associations from seven governorates. The project aims to support women leaders to lead their role in society. The project is based on establishing positive relationships between these leaders and supporting each other. Furthermore, it aims to identify the needs and concerns of citizens, especially women in each governorate, and to study and collect the objective data and propose solutions.
